Biography

Vanessa Galaviz is a versatile dancer and choreographer born and raised in Detroit, MI. With a rich background in various dance genres including contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and folklorico. Vanessa’s artistic journey has been shaped by her studies at Wayne State University, where she earned her BFA in Dance. Her training spans several respected teachers, including Hannah Andersen, Biba Bell, Dr. RAS Mikey Courtney, Brandon Koepsell, Karen Prall, and Jessica Rajko. Vanessa’s dedication to movement is reflected in her ongoing connection to her Mexican heritage, as a member of Ballet Folklorico de Detroit, bringing traditional Mexican dance history to every space she inhabits. She is also passionate about serving her community, teaching children at Compas, where she leads classes in Spanish, sharing her love for dance and nurturing the next generation of artists. Vanessa’s performances embody a fusion of technical skill, cultural storytelling, and deep emotional connection.
